News on Apple Versus The Rest Of The World

Guys, I got this some time ago from news. Thought it might be interesting for our reading pleasure. It is interesting to follow what others are doing to capture the same market. This is when a company need to use its creativity and creates over the edge technology which is beyond the capabilities of these immitators.

" At the end of an alley in Taiwan's most violent city, a black Mercedes Benz sedan blocks a sliding-glass door that opens only from within. Inside, technophiles can buy iPhone knockoffs for two thirds the legitimate price.
With a touch-screen and Apple Inc.'s logo on the back, the "iClones" look just like the real thing. Apple won't offer iPhones -- which combine a phone, music and video player with wireless Internet -- in Asia until 2008. The owner of the shop in Sanchung, near Taipei, says he began selling "aifungs" in December, six months before the iPhone went on sale in the U.S.
"We can't ignore iPhone because it's so hot," says Ben, who spoke on condition he be identified only by his first name because selling pirated phones is illegal.
The clones show how fast Asian counterfeiters move. Ben says his company designed the fakes from pictures posted on the Internet before Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone in January. Knockoffs cost the global economy US$650 billion annually, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce estimates. Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Bowcock wouldn't discuss how much the company loses as a result of phony products.
"The longer Apple delays, the more the pirates can rip the company off," says Chialin Lu, an analyst at Yuanta Core Pacific Securities Co. in Taipei.
Jobs hasn't explained the delay. Kevin Chang, an analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co., says carriers need time to modify their networks for the iPhone's technology.
Cupertino, California-based Apple, which said Monday it sold its millionth iPhone, intends to fight back.
"We are committed to pursuing counterfeiters and others who steal from us and deceive our customers," Bowcock says. On its Web site, Apple asks consumers to report fake hardware to counterfeit@apple.com.
The knockoff phones are produced in batches of 1,000 at a factory in Shenzhen, China, across the border from Hong Kong, says Ben, 26. He advertises his phones on the Internet and sells them for NT$8,900 (US$270). On Sept. 5, Jobs cut the price of the top iPhone to US$399, a US$200 reduction.
"The guts aren't hard," Ben says. "The hard part is the design and the exterior."
He says his operation has sold more than 10,000 clones in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and the U.S.
In Shanghai, the knockoffs are kept under the counter of a cramped market stall on the sixth floor of a trash strewn building near the railway station.
Ni, who spoke on condition he be identified only by his surname, says he started selling the knockoffs after reading a newspaper story on the iPhone hype.
The phones go for 1,000 yuan (US$133), and Ni says most of his sales are made over the Internet. He refused to identify his supplier, saying, "That's a trade secret."
"What I'm selling is a Chinese iPhone," says Ni, 48. "It's not a fake iPhone. It works perfectly fine."
Shenzhen and the surrounding Pearl River Delta is the largest handset-making region in China.
Pirates buy components from local companies, then assemble the clones, says Yang Yuxing, an analyst at Beijing-based researcher BDA China Ltd. As many as 400 factories can be hired to do the work, he says.
Apple isn't the only victim. Fakes come with labels such as "Nokian," imitating the brand of Nokia Oyj, the world's biggest mobile phone maker, and "Snog Ericsson," a corruption of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Ltd.'s trademark, says Neil Mawston, a London-based analyst for Strategy Analytics Ltd.
"By some accounts, they may make up 5 percent to 10 percent of total volumes this year," he said in an e-mail.
Legitimate manufacturers such as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., the world's largest contract maker of electronics, including iPhones, say they don't participate in the illicit trade.
"Protecting the designs and intellectual property of our clients is one of the most important things we do," says Edmund Ding, a Hon Hai spokesman, when asked if parts are sold to other factories. "If we find out any of our employees is doing that, we will fire them immediately."
Still, designs can be copied so quickly that South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co., Asia's biggest handset maker, decided to reveal only the front of its new music and video phone at the Hong Kong trade show last year. Seoul-based LG Electronics Inc. showed customers its new handset behind closed doors.
In August, the U.S. asked the World Trade Organization to declare that China's laws to safeguard patents and copyrights failed to meet international standards.
In Sanchung, Ben's clones carry a notice in fractured English that reads: "Waring. It will break the law without authorized by Apple Inc., if you use 'iPhone' logo on any electronic pruducts."
While the knockoffs resemble iPhones, they don't use Apple software. Ben says his phones have the advantage of working on any network, while iPhones connect only to AT&T Inc.'s system.
"It's the exterior we are imitating," Ben says. "If customers want functions, we can offer more and much better functions than the real phone." "

Problem Is Good

Whenever we face problems we will be very stressed and some time we'll think "oh no, it's the end of the world for me". Well I like to be positive, every problem is challenges. If we can overcome the challenges, we'll get rewarded. Maybe you'll say what does this guy talking crap. Well I do take every problem as a challenge to me. I realise that every time I think a problem is a "problem", I'll stressed out and will just sweep the problem under the carpet hoping that I can solve it later (which in most of the cases are not solved).

For those who thinks that it's the end of the world, relax. Just take a step back and think. I always ask myself and my family. What's the worst thing that can happen to us? Even if it happens, there's always good things coming your way whether you are aware or not and whether you'll like it or not. So, relax.

Life is pretty simple. Don't make it difficult.

A Wise Man Can Teach You Millions

Saw this on the club house's wall while playing golf with my mates this morning. The words catches my eyes instantly and I thought to share it with everybody. I totally agree with it as a wise man can share with you million things.

As an example, you are better off talking to one about current affairs rather than turning the pages of your local newspaper which only offers you politics, gossips and lots of pictures which in the end will distract you more. You can exchange ideas and views and at the same time increase your ability to critically judge any issues and broaden your thinking horizon.

I always enjoy the company of a wiser people (at least wiser than me). They will share with you their experiences (although at one stage during the conversation you'll feel like they are just bragging about themselves) which you can put into practice. Of course you'll hear "I did this", "I did that", "I would do this" and in return you will say "oh yeah", "really?", "and then...". But don't let the conversation to just be another conversation or for the other people to raise their self esteem. In one ear out the other. Try to get the best out of the conversation. Definitely you'll learn a lot of things.

Nine words women use...

Hi guys. How are we today. Hope everything is fine coz its friday. Okay, just to share some information for those guys who spend most of their time with women (be it girlfriend, wife, friends, work colleague, daughter, mom or even your grandmother), you may find this information helpful.

Women likes to use certain phrases or words excessively without knowing. We, as men need to be fully aware of this and have to identify carefully each word they use in order to safeguard ourselves maintain effective communication, at least. And not to forget for us to be more understanding and put more empathy when dealing with them.

I find it true. Perhaps you may have different view. Ladies out there, just admit it..:)

1.) Fine :
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2.) Five Minutes :
If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour.
Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more
minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.) Nothing :
This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually ends in fine".

4.) Go Ahead :
This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5.) Loud Sigh :
This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6.) That's Okay :
This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.) Thanks :
A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome.

8.) Whatever :
Is a women's way of saying F@!K YOU!

9.) Don't worry about it, I got it :
Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to #3.

Review of Kinect for Xbox 360, Playstation Move and Wii

"Microsoft and Sony detailed their upcoming motion controller at the E3 2010. Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360 is a controller free experience with voice control. Sony gives you controllers to hold on to during game play like the Wii.
What is the better solution? For Nintendo the winner is still the Wii. Nintendo's Reggie made it clear during the Nintendo E3 2010 media event that the Wii is still a hot seller breaking sales records past holidays." -i4u.com-

Well this would be another gadget all the tech junkies are looking forward to have their hands on. For me every console has its own pros and cons. Playstation 3 is for people who appreciate high quality graphic experience and serious gamers. Xbox 360 of course for those who are a strong follower of Bill gate's empire and not to mention its like a mini computer; have functions and interface which is user friendly (well thats expected as Microsoft is good in that sense). Wii on the other hand is for families who want to have quality family time and who likes to share the laugh together with a bigger crowd.

As for me, I owned a Playstation 3 and a Wii. Whenever I played games on Playstation 3, the only crowd and only gaming partner I have is my 2 year old boy. He will held the controller which of course are not connected and would pretend to play together with me. As for Wii, sometime my wife would join me and of course being competitive, none of us would settle for a second place. But Wii offers lots of fun to my family and we did enjoy the laugh and sweat together.

Nevertheless, Sony and Microsoft has finally realised that to capture a bigger market, they need to have what Wii have, totally different gameplay. It would be interesting to see how would market accept the revolutionary, if not new, technology as compared to Wii. Of course its different from Wii but Nintendo has proven that their games are well accepted by kids and families. Xbox and Playstation is more for grown ups. I am pretty sure that Sony and Microsoft has done a lot of reserch on how to penetrate such niche market.

Worlwide Cow Organisation (WCO) held a campaign not to mass slaughter cows around the world and sell their meat to the end consumers. The organisation use the most famous cow pop group Destiny's Calf as their model to promote such campaign. Will chicken react to such advertisement? As for now, no news yet to be reported.-Crewters-

Proton Persona Review

Yeay. Finally got my Persona yesterday after one and a half months waiting. First of all, this would be my first "First-hand" car bought in my whole life and now I realize why people don't want to buy Proton cars. Have a lots to say bout it, but I'll go through 1 by 1.

1. Dealership: The dealer sucks, maybe I choose the wrong dealer but compared to other auto makers, they don't walk the talk. The car delivery and service is lousy. Once they get the deposit of RM500, they try to avoid you and make up a lot of reasons here and there. If you want to buy Proton car, my advise is to go to Proton Edar (not EON, no, never) and ask around about the dealer's performance. The non-performance dealer will frustrate customers hence creating bad reputation of Proton.

2. Car Overal Condition: The delivered condition is satisfied with a minor scratch at some obvious parts. Complained it to the dealer and they promised to polish the car during my first 1000km service (yet another promise) and I think the scratchs can be removed. Other than that, everything looks and feels like as what is shown in the showrooms. Door panel, interior, seat and space gives me a whole new experience and no more plastic feel as per Gen2's. The only thing I don't agree is the steering which is not so solid and its like doesn't match with the interior.

3. Car Performance: Yet to be fully tested because afraid to do so before the first service. But manage to drive at highway up to 130km/h and the rpm meter is slightly above 3200. I suppose it can go up to 160km/h @ 4000rpm. The pick-up was great and Proton had really tuned up and upgrade the automatic TCS. Some time when I want to accelerate, the rev will go up quickly and really gives me the power especially during overtaking.

4. Comfort: Sound insulation was very good. They've change the side mirror design which is the main contributor of sound leak into the driver's compartment. My only frustration is that the car makes a "purring" sound (sounds like a metal sheet vibrating in the engine compartment) when I turn on the air conditioning. I don't know where it went wrong but for sure I'll ask the mechanics to rectify it during the first service. Else, air conditioning was perfect. I had to lower the temperature because I was freezing although the air flow is at its lowest. During my drive back to home last nite with my wife (aka joy ride in the new car), my wife can sleep soundly at the passenger side although Malaysian road as we all know is very very bumpy and rough. Finally, I would like to congratulate Lotus-Proton for its comfortable and responsive handling.

5. Space: At first I thought Persona will be smaller than Waja in terms of its driver's and passenger's space. For me being XXL size, Persona offers a good deal for those who can not buy small car like Perodua Kelisa or Daihatsu Mira or Mini Cooper. The legroom is ample, width is good, height is great and luggage compartment is huge. I'm still thinking wheter or not to put a 12" speaker box in it but of course now I can carry my golf bag anywhere I want. ;-) wink2.

6. Sound System: I am a music lover and my "previous car" (poor Satria now called such name) was installed and equipped with Sony MP3 Player, Amplifier, Speakers and Bass Box for maximum audio experience. For this car, the standard package for me is good. The only downside is that I have to use the FM transmitter for my IPOD and play it through radio's FM frequency which ends up lowering the sound quality whereas in my "previous car" I just have to plug in the Auxiliary-to-headphone connector and listen to great music instantly.

I would say that my overall review would be 8.5/10. The only things left are to install proper audio system and put some skirting around the car. Other than that, I am really satisfied with the whole package and thank god I made the right decision to buy the Persona. Initially I want a Honda City, but I think Persona suits me well and its Value for Money.

It's better to buy expensive properties which will appreciate rather than expensive cars which will depreciate......

ASTRO or no ASTRO

Recently ASTRO has been increasing its fee without consent from its customer. Why ASTRO must do such thing. At least do it like a gentlemen and good old days ads. Issue advert on new channels and those who want to enroll, please pay. Maybe this is new way of introducing new channel whereby they put it for free and see how may people view it. When ASTRO analysed which channel is mostly viewed, they monetised it. It is a good way but personally, I think at least they put it upfront. If they want to test the channel, just say so. Play fair and customer will be happy. After all the customer is always right...

Proton Persona: Price vs Quality

My latest affection is the new Proton Persona. Many people lost their trust in proton. For me, with recent change of management, I have more confidence in buying proton car. Their promise is that they already changed the parts and flaw which they identified in previous model i.e. Gen 2.

As for me, my family have been using proton made cars for years and I think is value for money. Despite the usual maintenance, of course some parts, bits and pieces needed to be changed after 3 or 4 years. I, myself is currently using a second hand satria and it still works very well and can go up to 150km/h with its 1.3L engine.

Thanks to paultan.org, before they launched the Persona, I managed to have a brief idea on how the persona or what people claim as Gen2 sedan via computer generated images posted in his blog. My view is that Persona is how Gen2 should look like when it was launched a couple years ago. A better passenger space, boot space and better interior. Running on 1.6L Campro engine (similar to Proton Waja's engine capacity), I think Persona is best fit for those who want impulsive riding + less fuel consumption. I have friends in Proton and they said that the current Proton Waja model is the most fuel economic car when it comes to long distance journey.

In terms of price compared to cars of its class (Myvi, Honda City, Toyota Vios), Persona is better being a Malaysian Product besides Myvi, which does not have any huge import tax imposed on it plus its an upgrade version of a previous model.

I've ordered mine and very eager to get and experience the difference in its handling and comfort (which many pioneer test drivers had claimed so). For sure It'll be better than my Satria which has served me well for the past 3 years. I just want to change to a 4 doors cars with a higher engine capacity and more rooms in the luggage compartment (where I can put my 12" speaker box and still have more rooms for other stuff). Wink2. OK guys, I'll share my driving experience soon when I get my new "TOY". transmission ends...

Mindset..Mindset..Mindset

If you keep saying you can't stand your job, you might lose your job.

These words captured my interest. Some people say you are what you eat. These words means you are what you think. I used to be a timid, shy and introvert person and still am now. But ended up after finish primary school, I achieved only a little victories in all the wars I've encountered. I'm saying to myself, "hey, what have I done to myself?". Started to explore more of my inner-self and did a lot of self evaluation. Not that I'm not satisfied with all my achievements, just that I feel that I'm capabale to achieve more than what I am today.

The process changed myself a lot. Inspite of those negative thinking and imperfection, I forced myself to do things which I really hate before (of course only the good one..but some also bad). I did it all just to see how far ca I go and true enough I can do more beyond my capabilities.

One thing I learned, the most important, is we have to be positive. If you think positive, the outcome will be positive. Take problems as your challenges. Treat your imperfections as uniqueness. Think of your mistakes as part of your learning. Then you can beat your subconcious mind and be a better person.

If you think you are good, there's a better person than you. If you think you are better, there's always a person who did the best in whatever they do. Don't stop challenging yourself. Start by winning small battle. Maybe you'll lose some battle, but remember, losing will craft you into a stronger being and one day you'll win the war of your life. Be smart in choosing your battleground. Your act today will determine who you are tomorrow.

A Fresh Start for 2007

I stopped blogging after finished my study and started working. I never thought people can make money out of their blog. I've read a lot of blogs for the past few months. They are so wonderful talking about their passion. Some talks about cars, some gadgets, some even teach people how to make money from anything. It is interesting to read and surf their blog. I start thinking on what am I going to write in my blog because I want to start it all over again.
Well, life after study has changed me a lot. Lots of things happened to me within this 3 years. Had a car accident on my 1st year working anniversary, the front bumper was wrecked but thanks to my Car Insurance company, not a penny spent. Joined some MLM (Multi Level Marketing) to make easy money, ends up with no money. Moved in and out of 3 houses and maybe one more end of this year. Got married to a lovely lady on 26th May 2007. Got the first nephew in August 2007, my brother's son and he's so cute. And more and more and more bits and pieces of my life making me stronger and keeping me sane.
Well, will keep updating this blog later..

Workaholic

Pheww..finally i have my own sweet time to write in this blog again...its been a very busy days for the past few months and i have no time to update anything on everything..well theres many ups and downs for me in this office..located 53 levels above the ground, I've been running around doing this and that..arrange a lot of events, golf, and visits by buyers and bla bla bla (my job is like an office boy + personal assistance + liason officer + typist + postman + teeny weeny bit of marketing)..a bit tired and worn out although the gravity up here has not much different compared to places elsewhere..but it was a great experience..kene belasah, kene maki, kene puji thats all included and come in package in my routine day job..

Its totally different from my years as a student..the only tensi tensi time is when the exam is chasing behind your back..other than that you have ample time to make over yourself (mcm dlm queer eye for the straight guy tu la), play computer games, movies and also sleep!!hehe..but now everyday I faced a lot of challenges (or should i say pressure)..if i want to name it all in here maybe it would take you guys about 2 and a half days to finish reading everything..i've been working for about 11 months and now i'm here and still standing..i pray that god will always give me the strength to stay sane and prepared for whatever things destined in my future..

occay then, enough update for today..tomorrow i'll continue and write up more..now i want to finish my work for today and go home early..SSALE START TODAY~!!!!..want to go back early and do some shopping..yeaahoooo

Earthquakes!!!!

"Saya tengah buat homework, tiba2 saya rasa meja bergegar. lepas tu saya tengok kipas pun bergerak ke kiri ke kanan. Saya pusing belakang(dengan gaya pusing belakang), saya tgk perut bini saya, dia tengah mengandung. perut die goyang2 macam ni ha(sambil tgn di perut tunjuk goyang mcm mana). Dua kali die jadi, sekali 40 second."

"Aku tengah tido, tiba2 rasa katil bergoyang. Aku pun tgkla bawah katil, ingatkan ade 'bende' yg goyang katil aku. Pastu aku tengok atas kipas goyang2 mcm tak betul."

"Laki akak rasa katil bergoyang, die pun ckp 'yang jgnla goyang2 katil ni'. Tapi still goyang lagi. Die tengok sebelah akak tak ada. Die pun bangun pegi bilik cucu die, angkat cucu die turun bawah flat kitorang. Masa tu akak pegi dapur kejap minum air. Akak balik2 bilik tengok laki akak dah takde dengan cucu die skali. Rupa2nya dah sampai kat bawah dah die kata ada gempa bumi"

"ait, bukan bangi dekat2 dengan uniten diorang kata ade rasa earthquake"
"oooo tu bangi, tempat aku tak rasa. Lagipun tengok la uniten tu mcm mane tempat die, rosak. Rumah aku sebelah masjid je."

"Eh, ade gempa bumi eh semalam, aku tak rasa pun."

I just have one question. What is the relationship between earthquakes and ceiling fan? Or is it just like a habit, whenever there's earthquakes first thing to do is to look up to the ceiling.

True friend

A girl asked a guy if she was pretty, he said no. She asked him if he would want to be with her forever..and he said no. Who are our true friends?..we dont have to search for them..they'll come to us..and once they come into our lives, they never leave.
